Rerun Vintage Arcade Logo
For my Identity design and branding class, I designed a logo for a vintage arcade business. We had to work with our client to bring their vision to life. The assignment made us go through all the design steps from the mood boards to the final logo creation. This assignment allowed me to work on honing my skills in Adobe Illustrator in a fun and productive way.
For this assignment, I was tasked with building a new logo for a vintage arcade business due to the old logo being outdated. I worked with my client to figure out the brand goals that they had never thought of before. The owner wanted a more modern logo that still embraced the vintage arcade feel. The target audience was teens and young adults who were interested in the feel of an 80’s arcade.

Mood Boards
My vision for this assignment was to make a very retro-feeling logo that was still modern, which made this very challenging. I started by making my mood boards, which leaned heavily on the 80’s style.
Rough Ideas
After getting one of my mood boards approved by my client, I started working on some very rough Illustrator designs to help me visualize the final product more easily.

Final Logo Choices
I then moved on to making the final logo, which combines the wordmark and pictorial mark logos from the ideation phase.
Brand Style Guide
After getting my final logo approved by the client, I moved on to creating the brand style guide. For my brand style guide, I included guidelines on what typography to use, what colors to use, and some ways to use the logo and some ways not to use the logo.

Challenge
From this assignment, I learned a lot about what working with a client is like and managing my time to complete this for the client. There were definitely some challenges that I had to overcome because some of the skills that I used to make the final logos I hadn’t used before, so there was a lot of skill-building that came from this project.
